JAMES 1:5–7
5 If any of you lack wisdom, LET HIM ASK OF GOD, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But LET HIM ASK IN FAITH, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive ANY THING of the Lord.
If you notice, apostle James begins this passage talking about receiving wisdom, but he ends the passage talking about receiving anything. Well, healing, or anything else the Word promises, is certainly included in “anything,” because “anything” includes all things – right?
“Anything” in this verse of scripture also includes the baptism in the Holy Spirit. A person receives the baptism in the Holy Spirit the same way he or she receives anything else from God—by faith.
The same way we receive salvation, healing, or the baptism in the Holy Spirit, is the same way we receive other promises from God. We receive them by faith. Hebrews 11:6 makes it very clear that without faith – it is IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD.
The key secrets for receiving from God in His Kingdom
- Decide what you want from God and then find the scripture that promises you that and write it down if you have to so you don’t forget
- Know the will (Word) of God for that need or challenge. Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
- Get scriptures to support your request. Your foundation for prayer is the clearly revealed Word of God. If it is a promise from God, then He is responsible to bring it to pass.
- Be specific. God was very specific when He created man, animals, plants, the universe, and the earth. Ask God specifically for the things you want, then believe you have them after you ask NOT after you have seen them. That is the faith that pleases God.
- You must ask. There is no such thing as a silent or unspoken request. The Bible says in Proverbs 18:21 that Life and death are in the power of the tongue. Allow your tongue to declare what you want from God
- During the creation, God said, “let there be”, and behold there was. Do not just think and wish in your head what you want – speak it out. Wishful thinking will NOT get you answers you need
- Philippians 4:6 tells us to be anxious for nothing but by everything through prayer, supplications, and thanksgiving to let our requests be known unto God. Ask yourself, who are you letting your staff (your needs) be known to more – God or men?
- Be prepared to stand 10,000 years if it takes that long for the manifestation of your answer. Your thought life can be controlled by what you see, whom you associate with, whom you listen to or what you read daily.
- You cannot read or listen to everything. That means you might have to stay away from some news, churches, and from some Christian television and radio programs and allow Holy Spirit to be only your guide.
- John 16:13 (AMPC) says, “But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future].”
- Never bring God’s Word down to the level of human experience. (Never compare God’s Word with man’s Word) Every experience must come up to God’s Word.
- Meditate on the goodness of the Lord daily. How good God is and what He has done for you. Meditate on your successes and NOT your failures.
- Do not meditate or talk about the problem but instead meditate about God’s solution. God told Joshua in Joshua 1:8, “8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”
- See yourself out of the problem that you may be facing today. In your waking moments, think on the love, mercy, goodness, and blessings of God, and it will boost your faith.
- 15.Psalms 150 is a Psalm about offering Praises to God. Let All Things Praise the Lord Praise[a] the Lord! “Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty [b]firmament! 2 Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!…..”
- Praise Him constantly for what He is doing in your life. Make every statement a confession of faith, not a confession of doubt.
- Be convinced that what ask God to do, He will do it. 1 John 5:14-15 declares; “14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
- Come before God expecting to talk to the Him as your heavenly Father and expecting that He will hear you and grant you the request that you ask Him if you have asked based on His word.
